Cops on Top fundraiser set for April 18

March 24 2025

AUBURN, Ala.- Local law enforcement agencies will rally in support of the Lee County Special Olympics during the 2025 Cops on Top fundraiser on Friday, April 18. The annual event will be held from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Kroger on Dean Road in Auburn and the Tiger Town Kroger in Opelika.

Officers from the Auburn Police Department will be stationed at the Dean Road Kroger, while the Opelika Police Department will host the event at the Tiger Town location with assistance from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

As part of the Cops on Top tradition, some officers will take their post on the rooftops of the Kroger stores, while others will greet customers and accept donations near the entrances alongside Special Olympics athletes.

This year’s event will feature lunch for $5 — including a hot dog, chips and a drink — at both locations from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Cops on Top is a regional fundraising and awareness campaign supporting Special Olympics, an organization that offers year-round sports training and athletic competition for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Community members are encouraged to stop by either Kroger location to support a great cause and help make a difference in the lives of local athletes.
